    Astra 1.4 L reg

Problem is it keeps cutting out on deceleration and engine mamagement light
keep coming on when delelerating but only when in gear. When reading codes
all it says in the vehicle speed sensor. So replaced that also replaced the
ECU and still it keeps cutting out. Also when at idle the engine revs keeps
    fluctuating.
    Any idea mateys

sounds like the idle speed sensor to me.
look back in the msgs, there are quite a few that detail how to do it & what
problems prompted them to replace it.
not too diff for a diy job.
also, have u got an accelerator with the throttle pot .
that might be worth a look

Had a similar problem on a friends car, whilst engine braking (downhill good
example) the engine light would come on and sure enough at the bottom of the
    hill the engine had stopped.

We tried the reading codes bit and got the same as you.

I got her to use redex on 2 tank fulls which cured it.

Where was the speed sensor you replaced? Is the speedo cable or electronic
    drive?

you need to see if there is continuity in the wiring from the speedo head to
    the ecu.
Can you get hold of a wiring diagram - Haynes manual - maybe?
astras have a big multi plug in the nsf kick panel, the whole world runs
through it so woth a look.
Can't remember if this works on astras ( does with Corsas ). Drive at a
constant speed and press both buttons on the info display at the same time.
It should show your speed ( in kmh).
