    Hi
a friend has a vectra the heaters won't blow hot air, just wondering if
anyones has had this problem? and how how they fixed it? I have a feeling
(from what shes told me ) that the valve isn't switching to the hot
    position.

Anyway where is this valve located?
Can it be bypassed till a new ones ordered.

Ive also heard this valve (from checking the net) that theres a vaccum
fitted if so how on earth is this linked to the water valve?

It may use a vacuum operated servo to position the water valve, air
    diversion flaps &c.

More detail on exactly what car it is would be helpful. If it's got
climate control the mixer flaps will probably be operated by servo
motors and the heater will be shut off by a vacuum valve. I think the
valve will default to hot if there is no vacuum though. If it does have
climate control there should be a procedure to reset it.

If it's only got air conditioning there may be a switch on the
temperature control to shut off the heater via a solenoid operating the
vacuum to the shut off valve.

The first thing to check is that it's not lost coolant and that the
heater hoses are hot. I'm assuming the engine is getting up to
temperature. It might be worth finding a Vectra forum and having a look
to see if others have had this problem.
