What flashes - the dip or the main beam?
Do both flash? Is it when you go over a bump?

main beam flashes as if you have put main beam on but not always when over a
bumpy road-sometimes i can hear clicking from the fuse box area before it
    happens
travelled 500 miles on friday back from scotland and it happened about 20
    times over various road surfaces
thought it was column stalk as happened after indicating at first but then
    did it without touching anything

Is the stalk switch slack at all? could simply be getting worn out? For a
different reason I replaced the stalk on our zaf with a new one and it feels
totally different. nice and tight with that 'new car' feel. Now if only I
could do that with the rest of the car....

I had this on a Cavalier

Fix was a new lighting stalk on the steering column - it got all floppy (so
    to speak!)

On that car was about £35 from VX spares shop + 30mins or so to replace.
