Frontera 2.2 16V Oil pressure help please

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by martin linnell, Jul 7, 2004.

  1. Hi
I have low? oil pressure on my 2.2 petrol Frontera...when hot and on the
move, say, 50-70mph, the oil gauge needle sits just over a quarter on the
gauge. At standstill, on idle, it sits on, or just above the red on the
gauge. The oil pressure light does not come on however...
I have changed the oil pressure switch, no difference.
Is the oil pump adjustable, to enable me to increase the pressure? Any other
    ideas?.......please???thanks

There is a pressure relief valve on the pump, it might be stuck open, bottom
end might be worn and loosing pressure. Either way, pressure that low aint
    good.

When did it last get an oil change? And how high is the pressure from a cold
    start?

  4. What oil & filter are you using and when were they last changed?

A cheap or old filter & oil can cause problems.
