fitting brake peddle rubber back on?

the rubber on my breal foot peddle has come off.

i have tried to refit it but can only fit one end of it ie yop half or
    bottom half.

is there any thing that will help to get it back on correctly.

i would not bother but it is need to be put back on for the MOT.

My post hasn't appeared so this is a re-post.

Bongo, I suggest you boil the rubber shoes first, and while they are soft,
use a shoehorn to ease them in.

A little bit of washing up liquid to lubricate the rubber does wonders.

ok thanks all i will try them out later.

i think i will try the ideas in the order they came in

1\ prise on with a flat screwdriver.
2\ use washing-up liquid then goto 1 above
3\ boil the rubber to soften it up. (she will kill me if i pick it up whilst
hot using the oven gloves) :)

No need to boil it, warming it up and thereby softening the rubber will
    do.

Put it in hot boiling water then put it back on and it should dry into place
    :)

Gosh! I'm so glad you pointed that out. Everything is so much
clearer now, I could never have figured it out without your help.
    Thanks!!

Rather than boiling it in water, run an extension lead to the car, and
warm the rubber with a hair dryer, or even hot air gun (on low
setting!), so that you can keep the rubber and pedal warm whilst
replacing the rubber. Rubber cools very quickly, and by the time you
have transferred it from hot water to the (cold) brake pedal, any gain
    in flexibility is minimal.

bongo rule () gurgled happily, sounding much
    like they were saying :
A smell chucker wouldn't help, because "Peddle" is a perfectly valid word.
    It's just the wrong word.

    "Breal" is another story...

Be fair - he could have wasted hours trying to get it to fit on the
    breal peddle.
