Yep, I know the manual says to ignore it if the light goes out but it
has gone from just coming on rarely to being on an awful lot.

    Bit worrying is all.

I noticed the previous owner had put some tape around the connector
    going to the temperature sensor.

I removed the tape and inspected the connector and it all looks fine.

I discovered that removing the plug from the sensor does indeed make
the engine management light come on....and replacing it makes it go
    out.

It *could* be a faulty connector or a faulty sensor I suppose. Is the
sensor integral to the hose it is in as I can't remove it for love nor
    money!?

Or is this just a wild goose chase and the fault has nothing to do with
    the sensor?

Also the aircon has packed up on this car.

The pump activates for about 20 seconds then turns off. If you press
the Aircon button again it will reactivate then turn back off.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Would you happen to have a link to the paperclip trick you talk about?

    Thanks.
