engine management light (VECTRA)

Discussion in 'Vectra' started by Mark and Sara, May 17, 2004.

  1. Vectra 1.8 GLS on R plate 80K miles ish

recently the car has been stalling and missing and the Engine manag light
    comes on.
if the car is switched off it is difficult to start but if it is left for
approx 30 mins everything seems fine (no light )
any body have any ideas before it goes to the garage?

just before xmas the radiator was replaced but the monkeys forget to connect
the fan so the engine over heated (stuck in shopping traffic in the middle
of leicester the sunday before xmas!!!) and got so hot it stopped, luckily
    it didnt seize.
    could this be of significance?

    TIA
    Mark

    yep!
could of cooked any amount of sensors or bits.
drag the codes with a paperclip that will tell you
but i wonder if it's the cam sensor...odds anyone?..known to go under
    excessive heat!!

look back about 10days on msgs for how to get the codes

If it's difficult to start, I'd peg for the crank sensor. Pull the codes as
    explained at the following link:
