Car is Vectra r reg 1.8.

When car is low on petrol the engine management light comes on.When
the car is then filled up engine management light goes out.

Could anyone give me a clue as to what might be causing this?

    TIA

  2. The obvious question is to ask whether you are confusing the low fuel
    warning light with the EML!

Did you buy the car second-hand ?
You might find that someone has swapped the EML wiring with the Petrol Light
    for some reason.
Can't think why though, possibly some dodgy fault rectification perhaps.
Buy a Haynes manual and a cheap multimeter and check the wiring for
yourself, its quite easy to do.
