Engine Management Light Flashing - 1996 Vectra

Hi there all

I am hoping for some sensible advice.

I have an early 1996 Vectra on a N plate. It has been fine since we bought
it in May, but tonight it has developed a rather fatal problem.

I went for a short trip no problems. When I jump back in the car 5 minutes
later, it won't start, and the orange engine management light is flashing.
It turns over - there is bags of power in the battery, and in the end I had
to be towed home. The car won't even bump start being towed.

Any ideas anyone??

Hi -

From an earlier posting.........

That would be your engine management light, its indicating a fault with one
of the sensors.... you don't need any special equipment to find out the
problem, just a paperclip...

Problem Solved!!

It was the key - I think the light flashing is the immobiliser light. I
used the wifes key, and it's all sorted.
