Engine hunting when driving as steady speed

    I have a 2005 Corsa D Automatic with 1.4 petrol engine. The mileage is only about 75,000 from new. There are no warning lights and apart from the hunting it all seems normal. The engine hunts slightly when driving at a steady rate i.e. picks up a bit then then drops off and does this about every second or so until the throttle position changes but this does not happen for all speeds or engine revs but is slightly uncomfortable and a quite annoying. There appear to be no other problems when driving so if anyone has any clue as to what is happening and why I would be very pleased to know. Hoping someone can help - thanks..
