    Hello,

I have a 2006 Vauxhall Vectra C 1.8l Z18XER engine. I need to replace the cylinder head because I believe the current one has a crack. I have also a spare engine of the same type, which cylinder head I want to use. I will remove it by slacking the bolts in the correct order and stages. Do I need to have the head re-skimmed before I bolt it on? I am normally following Haynes book instructions, but need for re-skimming is not mentioned there. My garage however advised me that this is mandatory to ensure that the head is not warped.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards,

    Kris
