I have a 2 year old Vauxhall corsa Life 1.0 that i brought a year ago
since i have had it i have been told by a vauxhall corsa dealer that
the timing has gone twice, at the moment this is being fixed for free
as the car is still under warranty. I have just had this fixed for a
2nd time and a day later it is making the same ticking noise again!
They will prob fix this again for free but the warranty runs out in Feb
07 and i am worried that this will keep happening. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

You shouldn't have to put up with this on such a new car. I would insist
that if a fault (if properly repaired by a main dealer under warrantee or
not) reoccurs within a year (or even 2), then that warrantee repair was
obviously not properly done and should be repaired again at no cost, whether
the original warrantee is still in force or not. I would have thought this
would be the situation anyway for any repair work done, I would ask for
    clarification about this.

There is a timing chain recall for the Corsa which is why your timing
chain has been renewed free of charge. I had a 1.0 which I have just
traded in to get a 1.7CDTi, and the old car did tick which was
temporarily alleviated by the timing chain renewal for about 1000 miles
    - then it started ticking again. Some people say that it is the
hydraulic lifters which make the ticking noise and it has little to do
with the chain. To be honest, the 1.0 is a slow and noisy engine (as
it's a 3 cylinder). The 1.2 is much quieter and more refined. Keep on
at the dealer (and contact Vauxhall head office Customer Care if you're
not happy with the response you get from the dealer) - if you're
unhappy with the car then do everything you can to make sure they sort
it, but IMO it will keep ticking (although apart from the noise it
makes which is annoying, it won't damage the engine).

Have a look on the forum at http://www.corsa-c.co.uk/ for more
information about Corsa problems, recalls and fixes.
