My 93 1.2 Corsa has a combined fan speed and heated rear window switch. Has
anybody replaced the bulb in the switch to show when the window heater is
on. Is it brute force to pull the switch knob off or is there a more
technical way to get at the bulb.

I thought I'd ask here before breaking something!

pull it firmly, it just clips on, you will find the bulb in the middle.

No it doesn't, after pulling it for a few minutes I looked closer with a
torch and with the switch at the number 3 position there is a hole at the
bottom where you poke a screwdriver to release a locking clip. Then after
releasing the switch itself, when it comes out the bulb is at the top.

This was the results of following your instructions, luckily I didn't pull
    too hard.

There are often small differences in these switches, and in the information
    available to replace bulbs etc.

Steve put you on the right track - you hot the job done.
Some thanks, not criticism, due to Steve I think.

OK fair comment; but from previous postings steve is obviously in the motor
maintenance trade so I took him at his word and heaved on the knob with a
pair of pliers. It was only when something was going to break I looked
    closer. Isn't car maintenance wonderful.

    Thanks Steve

wow, thanks guys, yeah i'm in the motor trade, but of course i don't know it
all, there are versions of these switches that simply "pull" off so if yours
wasnt this type then thankfully you didnt break anything.
please bear in mind despite the obvious "i'm not responsible for anything
occuring from advise i may have given" its not always straight foreward
advising when all you have to go on is a few lines of text. we can only
advise, and if you feel happy enough to take the job on yourself after
recieving help via a newsgroup then all well and good, however we do like to
assume that each individual has a certain level of knowledge of technical
things, (not complicated, just not completely blind) and if you excuse me
for saying so, if this was the case you would have surely noticed a screw
    before posting in here.
i'm not being critical so please don't take this the wrong way, most
vauxhall heater knobs don't have screws.
