Anybody know what the REAL mpg figures should be for the 1.7 DTi Corsa
"C"...please. I just think 48mpg overall seems quite poor in this day and
    age.

    Cheers.......... Colin.

It depends a lot on how you drive it and what sort of journeys you do.

Furthermore, how old is the car? I would not expect full economy for 10,000
    or even 20,000 miles.

I had a J reg Cavalier with that engine. With care it could easily do
55mpg. With a very light foot it once did 68mpg (45mph all the time -
    last fuel crisis).
But spirited driving "on the turbo boost" would soon knock the fuel
consumption back into the mid forties (high motorway speeds, hammering
    it around town etc)

Just had a second service at 20,000 miles, albeit the fact that V/X have
called it the first official service......the fuel figures, overall, have
    always been around 48-49 mpg.
    Mixture of driving....Town/Country/Dual-Carriageway/National speed-limit
    roads and ocasionally Motorway.

Firstly, I wonder why the confusion over 1st and 2nd service?

The car has a 1 year/20,000 mile (whichever comes first) service interval.

This means a car doing 10,000 miles a year needs an annual service whilst a
car doing 30,000 miles a year has it done every 8 months.

The dealer would call a 20,000 mile service the first service if the car is
a year old or if the book was not stamped at the previous one.

On the subject of fuel consumption, around 50 mpg is not unreasonable if
there is a fair bit of short stop/start cold driving. I would do two
distinct fuel consumption tests. One for town driving and one for open road
driving. You should see a fair bit more than 50 mpg on a run.

The first Corsa (1.5dti) had to have the fuel pump recalibrated....just
wondering if it's worth having the 1.7DTi checked-out...??
