I've never owned a vauxhall before and I'm thinking of buying a Corsa Breeze
    1.2 16v, reg 55 as I've spotted a great deal.
Any thoughts or opinions on this car would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

Energy Blue is a nice colour if you have the choice :)

Be aware that the new Corsa should be launching later in the year -
therefore, the value of yours may/will take a hit - something to bear
in mind, depending on how long you intend to keep it.

    Thanks Tariq!
Any views on the actual performance of a Corsa? Would you say 7,500 for a
3month old corsa with all the mod con's with demo milage (under 50miles to
be exact) is a good deal?

Depends where you use it. I have a 53 1.0 12V and drive it about 50/50
in Central London and on motorways. I find it fine for both, but
occasional driving on country and fast suburban roads finds it
struggling in terms of acceleration. Fuel cost about 10p/mile for above
use and with a heavy right foot.
has a bit more of an edge (probably a lot more especially considering
the extra weight carried - heavier engine, air con, etc.).
I would say that price for a 55 1.2 Breeze is OK (assuming that's for
one of the metallic colours, and not Flame Red), but I'm no expert on
    pricing I'm afraid. A dealer down here is offering pre-reg 05 1.2 5Dr
Design (similar spec to Breeze, but without alloys) for £7295.

If it's ex-demo/pre-reg then try and push for as much as possible - 1
year's tax, free 1st service, free mats, etc. ;)

I've had a 1.3CDTi Corsa Design for a year now, and I'm very pleased with
it. Aside from the great little diesel engine, which won't interest you,
the good points about the Corsa I reckon are . . . .
*well built, feels more solid than a Fiesta
*secure, apparently when its double locked only a brick can get in . . .
    *good seats and driving position
*surprisingly grippy handling, fun round corners. It drives well in snow
    too, curiously
*feels like a modern design, so won't date too quickly. The new Corsa/Punto
should be very interesting to see how far it moves on . .
*fine stereo, simple, but works well, though an MP3 socket would be handy
*pretty much as spacious inside as the last model Astra, confirmed by
    checking the car's brochures
*got air con, power steering, remote locking, hifi controls on steering
wheel, electic windows . . . all the 'extras' you really need
    *good on the motorway
    *huge service mileage gaps

    Downsides . .
    * poor headlights, I'm not impressed by the range
    * boot is a bit small
*steering is a bit lacking in feel, but this probably helps the motorway
    driving

I've read that the 1.2 16v needs a good few miles on the clock to loosen up
    .. . .

Would you say £7,500 for a 3 month old Corsa with all the mod cons with
This is doubtless a pre-registered car. These are cars sold cheaply by
Vauxhall to dealers on the condition that they register them - it's a ploy
to clear out stock and keep registrations up. They are usually terrific
value and are brand new motors, the only thing that makes them used cars is
that you'll be the second name in the log book - this is unlikely to detract
from the car's value when you come to sell it.

However, do be aware that there are lots of Corsas about and I think they're
best value bought at one year old. There are lots of these out there too.

Last June I bought a year old Corsa 1.2 16v Design 5dr with 15k miles at
auction for £4,825 - that was a good price, I'd expect to see them make
    aorund £5k.

I don't expect you to buy at auction as it's not for beginners, but you
should realise that if you buy yours for £7,500, in 9 months time it will be
    worth about £5k trade - that's quite a drop in 12 months.

Buy a year old one from a car supermarket and whilst you do still have to
pay the dealer a profit, your depreciation in the first year is likely to be
£1,000 less than if you buy the Breeze you've seen.

Motorpoint www.motorpoint.co.uk have lots of 05/05 Corsas from £5,499.
They're 9 months old with up to 15k miles on the clock. They're good value.

    05/05 1.2 Life 5dr £5,499

    05/05 1.4 Design 5dr £5,799

    05/05 1.2 SXi 5dr £6,299
