Hi all, I need a bit of help please -
All was fine then 1 day the temp gauge died as did the rad fan switch, both
    together.
Both were changed (after a new rad was needed cos the thread stripped).
The fan then came on late (gauge well into the red).
But now, no temp gauge again, fan cuts in and out and seems ok but the
heater is extremely hot and you get the smell of hoses from the bonnet. Any
    ideas folks?
    TIA.

Sounds like a small airlock/air bubble at the temperature sender. If the
sender is poking into air instead of water thatwould produce the symptom you
    describe.
