CORSA 1.0 12V - erratic running

Discussion in 'Corsa' started by frank.spencer702, Apr 8, 2005.

  1. My daughter has just bought a 2000(W) 1.0i 12V Envoy as her first car
and I am just checking it out to make sure it is safe. Everything looks
OK so far, but it does appear to suffer from idle problems. It starts
fine but occasionally the idle speed drops, very occasionally stalling.
It runs OK on the road, but the low idling causes problems at
junctions (especially for a new driver who cannot sense it happening
quickly enough!). I have checked the plugs and air filter (look
relatively new) and aim to change the oil and filter ASAP as the car
has no history. Any suggestions where I go from here? Frankie.

If you have no engine management light on you should clean the throttle body
butterfly out - you will be amazed at how dirty it is and at the difference
it makes - only takes about 10 mins to do

  3. Thanks for that. I did the same thing on my Audi A4 but had to
dismantle half the engine to get to the throttle body! The engine
management light has lit briefly a couple of times when accelerating
hard, would that point to anythiong else?

Could be the air mass meter but I would go for the throttle body clean out
first - air mass meters are expensive.
