Clutch Switch on Late Omega

    Hi,

I bought and fitted a new (well Ebay) indicator stalk with the extra
cruise buttons to my late model 2.6 Omega, based on other successful
stories on this and other groups.
Took car to Vx for something else, and they were happy to Tech2 it for
    me and enable Cruise.
When I collected they told me that it reported "no clutch switch" -
which I'm aware is something that others have reported (it seems that
Vx sometimes fitted the switch and sometimes didn't).
My question is, having looked for it, where is the wiring for said
    switch.
I can get a switch, no problem, and it looks like it probably just
clips in to the top of the pedal assy (albeit a bit fiddly, and need to
    pull out relay board) .
However, I cannot find the wiring connector for it.....there is nothing
hanging around in that area at all.
I've found a 2 pin connector around the brake pedal area, but 1) It
appears to be a different type of connector the brake one (I'd presumed
they woul dbe much the same) and 2) It won't reach over to the cluch
    pedal switch area anyway.
So - does the clutch switch come with a flying lead (IE Is the 2 pin
connector that I've found the right one), or am I missing something?
Where is the connector? - The one for the stalk switch was really
obvious, but this one appers missing (which I doubt is the case - I'm
sure it would be in the loom)

You might ask why I am asking without having the switch,.......simple
really - I'm impatient, and got the car this AM, but cannot get switch
for a few days, so I planned on putting a paperclip across terminals
to emulate the switch being there.....just so I can test the enable
    worked!!!!

Interestingly the intellegence in the ECU is such that with this
    arrangement
if you depress the clutch the revs begin to rise (as you might expect),
    but
only by about 500rpm, and then it obviosuly detects no change in road
    speed,
and disables itself. So - I'll just leave it without the switch in
    place -
I only really want it for cruising motorway, and in that case, you
    don't
change gear (thus using the clutch) without having slowed down from a
    cruise
first - so I'll just disable it by hand when leaving the motorway.

    Hi,

For some reason the Cruise contorl has now packed up. Worked perfectly
last night after I bypassed the clutch switch connector, then just
suddently stoped. I've checkd stalk switches etc.
So - decided to check fault codes using paperclip, however, pin 6 is
not wired up on my 16 way connector. I've done this before on early
omegas, but not on this car (which is a 2002 2.6).
Does anyone know if this is normal - to have no pin 6?

I don't think the facelift models ( maybe other than early facelift
2.0s) can have the codes read using the 'paperclip method' - they're
certainly not listed over on the www.topbuzz .co.uk list :-(

Double check the bypass you did to see if it hasnt come adrift. Also check
you havnt disturbed the brake light switch (see if the brake lights are on
with the ignition on) when you were fiddling with it.

Thats all that springs to mind at the moment, but at least its (fairly)
    simple to check.

Oh, FWIW, when I retrofitted cruise to our zaf, the clutch plug was there,
but by golly I had to search for it! I found it after removing the lower
panel just above the feet, taped up under the lower edge of the upper panel,
just where the 2 panels meet, and even then I had to remove the lower heater
    ducting to get at it.

That's right, the paperclip method doesn't work on the 2.6 or 3.2
engines. Could it have decided that the clutch switch is faulty and so
    disabled cruise?

I had checked all the bypass and brake switches....so basically
    everything you can reasonably check.
    Gave up for the night.
This morning, it's all working fine!

    Strange!!
