changing Bulb at automatic gear stick

Hi,

I have automatic Vauxhall Cavalier 1600 c.c. and where I change Gears,
underneath used to be a bulb which has gone.

There may be a simple way of priming the cover up to reach the bulb. Any
suggestion before I tackle it.
