    Hi there

Just a quick question - anybody know the location of the fuel filter
    on a '94 2.0 sri cavalier.

There is a flat metal disc about 10mm thick by around 60mm wide on one
of the fuel lines just before it enters the injector unit - surely
thats not the filter as the replacement is much larger.

Have checked both fuel lines under car and cant see anything else -
    is it inside the tank?

Thanx for any help on this one

  2. Hi
Don't know if it's the same but the '91 2.0l filter was at the back of
the car just behind the off side rear wheel near the fuel pump. I can't
remember the actual size but it was around 6" long by 2" diameter

  3. I don't know what determines the location, but some models have the
filter on the bracket on the rhs of the spare wheel well, some on the
bracket in front of the fuel tank, and some on the bracket at the rear
of the tank, on the rhs.

The Haynes manual has pics of all of them, and the simple procedures for
    renewal.

Probably just above the rear axle (depending on type of fuel pump - in tank
or out of tank), inboard of the O/S rear wheel., clamps to axle.
Wakward, but do-able, but make a note of which way the arrow goes on the one
you take off, to get the new one the same way around. Can get away with
only one fuel line clamp, but better with 2. be prepared for a bit of
    spillage, NO SMOKING!!!!!

The one described above is a cyclinder, about the same size and look as an
old-style ignition coil, but a bit thinner. One fuel line in, one out!

Yea i got some spillage but it was mostly the contents of the old
filter as both ends of the fuel hose were empty.

Pretty yucky coloured petrol it was well overdue a change and the
engine seems to run alot smoother now.
