    Hi Can someone help please?
The electric windows in my Carlton have stopped working the fuses are ok but
    no power to the switches.

Also the electric mirrors only work when they want to and at least once a
day I cannot start it with the key the auto box inhibiter stops me I have to
    short the starter.

I wonder if someone has had the problem before? The only thing I can think
it could be is the fuse box problems like the VWs used to have.

    Thanks Ernie

Not Very helpful Michael is it. I found the problem it is the small PCP
(power distribution board) that fits on the left hand front window switches
the mirror was nothing more than a bad connection and got round the auto box
problem with a manual override switch this could help someone I hope.

  5. This is interesting. I'm experiencing a similar problem with my Carlton.
How did you fit an override switch? This could well be the solution to my
    starting problem.

    Hi Ray

Take an additional wire from the small terminal on the solenoid and run it
to a switch inside the car then from the other side of the switch run a wire
to the start position in the ignition switch and scotchlock it on to that
wire. Then when the car will not start in park or neutral click the switch
and away you go if you want a wiring diagram on how to do it just send me a
private email with your address and I will post it off to you.

    Cheers Ernie

It says in the Vauxhall TIS that on older Carltons ie around 89-90 the
wiring in the door allows water to get into the window motor connector. You
need to reroute the wire so that the wire comes up from below instead of
down from above to stop water getting in. Be carefull measureing voltages
here as you can easily blow the control board built into the arm rest.
