My lad has a Cav 2L 16V and the engine management light came on. Had
disgs done and it pointed to a suspect cam sensor. He got hold of a
second hand one and fitted it and all was Ok for about 2 weeks. Light
came on again and once again diags point to the sensor gone! He's now
replaced it with a new one but the garage reckon it could be the
wiring to the sensor if it goes again?

Anyone had any dealing with can sensor probs like this? Would
replacing the wiring do any good? I am quite happy to trace the loom
back to the ECU(?) from the sensor and replace the sensor wiring but
is this going to do any good?

    cheers,
    Len

An incorrectly tensioned cam belt can also put in this code. Have you
    checked the tension?

rarely, sometimes the 'local' bit gets a bit iffy with vibration etc where
    it plugs to the sensor.
normally the wire crimpings go inside the plug. but that can be said for all
    sensors

but i would bet he now gets no probs.

sad thing is, as with the scrappy one u got, they just 'go' when they like.
odds on the engine has done a few 1000 miles anyway. due for a change
just unlucky u got another naff one.
