Battery not charging and no battery light

    Hi. Hope you're all well. I have a 2004 Zafira Life 16v petrol. Last week the battery light came on whilst driving and then slowly faded away. Then, around 10 miles later the ABS light came on and I lost power steering and once turned off the engine would not start again. The multimeter registered the battery at around 11.20v. I put a new battery in which was 12.65v which the ignition on and once I started the engine the voltage dropped to 12.14v, revving the engine didn't increase the voltage at all. In addition, the battery light no longer illuminates when the ignition is turned on. I've got the car booked in for a new alternator but was stumped why the battery light no longer illuminates....is this symptomatic of a faulty alternator.....or something else? Thanks
