Astra rear wiper issues

Discussion in 'Astra' started by Simon Finnigan, Aug 5, 2006.

  1. Hi all,
got an astra with a rear wiper that isn`t working. I checked that the fuse
is ok, and it is. I checked that electricity is present when the switch is
pressed to operate the rear wiper - it is. I`ve tried getting a new motor
assembly, pulled from a working rear wiper and no joy. Have I missed
something really obvious that would fix the rear wiper?

    Thanks for your help!

    Have you got an earth?

  3. There is an earth connected to the metal bracket on which the existing motor
is fastened. I connected this earth to the new motor assembly as well with
    no joy.

You say you have 12v when the switch is turned on but you also need to have
a 12v feed when the ignition is turned on. This will be a black wire. Have
    you got this?

  5. The existing motor did work for some time, then one day it failed. I hadn`t
touched anything before it failed. I`ll check out what cables at there
later, but from memory there is the earth connection, and 2 wires going into
a single clip, which clip onto the motor. I can`t see anywhere else for any
connectors to come from or go to.
