I have a question regarding how this light works. My mate has a Mk2 Astra GTE Cabriolet 8v with digital dash, and when he turns on the ignition (but doesn't start the engine) the oil pressure light (above the centre console) comes on and flashes. After about 30s or so, it goes out. I have guessed that this might be normal operation. We can see why it would come on as there is, in fact, no oil pressure because the engine isn't running. It was a surprise that it went off, though. I would be grateful if someone could confirm this is the normal operation. He doesn't have a user manual for the car. I should add that it goes out pretty much straight away when the engine starts and the car is running fine. Just wanted to be sure that it's working the way it should. Mike.
