i have a 2004 astra. when it rains the windscreen keeps misting up, i
have heard that it is down to the air filter? becoming wet and then
moisture being blown into the car.

if this is right, does anyone know where to find the filter and how to
    remove it?

its not that much of a problem as i can turn the air con on, but i
would like to sort it out.

    thanks

It sounds like the pollen filter. Mine used to steam up the day after it
    rained.

They are usually under a black bendy plastic flap under the bonnet, close to
the windscreen. I removed the filter from my L reg when I had it, and the
problem went away. Not recommended to run without a pollen filter with
aircon though - the heat exchangers get blocked or something. The last time
I bought a filter, it was only about a tenner.

You need to take the glove box out - easy job - 4 x torx screws and pull.
Unplug the light as you pull the box out..
There is a panel on the heater box as you look in (on the right) - undo the
2x 5.5mm nuts and then the panel is clipped top and bottom - they are a bit
fiddly to get off. Filter is behind it. Make sure you put filter in right
way round - air flow arrow pointing back.
