Hi All, i have a 2001 Astra Estate, can anyone tell me where about on
the car the remote door locking receiver is ? For the past few weeks
the keyfob has been playing up and sometimes not unlocking or locking
the doors remotely when pressed, i thought the battery was on the way
out. It stopped working totally the other day, changed the battery in
the keyfob but it still wont work, dug the spare key out (that did also
used to work) and nothing from that either. Works fine with the key in
the lock. Can anyone tell me where the receiver unit is, maybe there
is a bad connection or something i can look for.

    Thanks.

is this in one location only?
what does it do sitting inside the car?

good logic by using the old unused key, should ruleout the knackered buttons
    problem that sometimes appears.

i'm not sure where the rx is on the astra.

    Hi

Not sure what you mean by "one location only" i have tried standing all
around the car and trying the key fob but no joy, at both work and
home, when sitting in the car same thing, nothing happens when pressing
the button on the keypad. On both kepad's the RED LED flashes when you
press the button. I have listen close to the car for any clicks etc
when i press the button but nothing at all can be heard. Its as though
its a loose connection that has now come loose totally from what i can
tell. As i said i thought from it been a bit intermitant before that
it was the battery on the way out, but thats not the case now, its the
car end i guess. Lucky the key in the door works fine so its not a
major problem but one i would like to fix.

    Thanks

This has now been resolved. Here is the solution :

get in the car, shut the door, put the key in the ignition and turn
until the battery/oil lights come on on the dash.

Press and hold either the lock or unlock button, the door locks should
    Lock and then unlock.

This will re-sync the rolling code in the key with the immobiliser

    which keyfob do you have?
if it's the one with two buttons
what happens if you try to reprog it as per the manual?
something like turn on the ignition and hold down both buttons till the horn
    goes

that's what it is on my vauxhall

else p'haps the fuse has gone to the rx'er???
