come on when it is realy cold, i know this is a stupid question but all my
previous diesal cars the heater plugs came on all the time

    Hi

As it's a direct injection diesel they start a lot easier than the older
indirect injection engines, and therefore the heater plugs only come on when
it's really cold. I had a few issues with my 2001 1.7DTI (which is
essentially the same engine just a different fuel pump and injectors
Vauxhalls said that they only come on below freezing and also they will burn
any excess fuel before the exhaust gases go to the cat! - don't know how
    true that is).

Do the 1.7 CDTI's still shudder if you start to accelerate at 1500 rpm?
