astra cutting out

    just wonedred if any one can help me . a friend of mine has a astra 1.6 sxi
    2003 model .It sometimes cuts out when he dips the clutch or brakes at the
    same time he,s had it in the dealer a number of times and they have no idea
    what it is ...They have checked and cleaned the thottle body upgraded the
    ecu cleaned injectors . He is getting fed up with it and would be greatfull
    if any one could help thanks...ian

    to be excessive crankshaft end-float, usually as a result of very high
    mileage or incorrect manufacture.Activating the clutch pushed the crankshaft
    slightly in putting the pistons slightly out of alignment effectively
    siezing the engine.

    thats very interesting, but highly plausable, pretty easy to diagnose i
    would have thought too if you check the crankshaft pully for movement. can't
    say i've ever come across that before but all knowledge is good knowledge.
