you will have to excuse me posting a general question here but my clutch is
getting pretty hard to engage so is it just a clutch plate i need or a full
clutch..?how can you tell.. baz

Is it the clutch, or the gears?

If its the gears, then maybe you just need the clutch adjusting.

if its the clutch - hard to press the pedal etc - then maybe there's an
obstruction under the pedal (scrunched-up carpet?0, or under the bonnet, or
maybe the cable is frayed.

It could just be cable adjustment of course.

If they're anything like the cavaliers you (one) can change the
friction plate in less than an hour on these. The process is easy
enough for a "try it and see."
