Astra and CDR 500 radio issues

Discussion in 'Astra' started by Simon Finnigan, Dec 5, 2006.

  1. Hi all,
I`ve got 2 CDR 500 radio`s for my M reg Astra, and have a question. The one
that was fitted by a friend for me works perfectly. The second one, which I
was testing before selling to a friend, will only display "CODE, "PANEL" and
the PIN number as you enter it, it won`t show any CD or radio channel
    information.

I have swapped bewteen these radios a few times and the old one works
perfectly, the new one doesn`t. Any suggestiosn as to what it could be?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The radio that displays 'PANEL' etc is programmed for the incorrect type of
    display.

Reprogramming is easy. Switch ignition on, radio off. Press and hold
buttons 4 and 6 then switch the radio on. Keep holding the buttons 4 and 6
until the display shows DIGIT 8. Let go of the buttons, and all should now
    be well.

  3. I`ll give it a try in the morning, and fingers crossed it will do the trick.
I thought it would be something like this, but couldn`t spot it in the
instructions. All I need to hop now is that the car can be sorted out - see
my other post to find out about the latest annoyance. it`s a lovely car -
1.8 16V Astra Sport, nice and nippy, fairly economical on fuel at 60mph, but
it seems to be getting unreliable, which I can`t afford to have.

Fingers crossed, and thanks again for your help!

  4. Hi Anthony,
I`ve tried this, and nothing happens. I`ve been putting the radio in and
plugging it in, turning the ignition on, pressing and holding 4 and 6,
turning the radio on and then waiting, for up to 30 seconds, but nothing
    happens. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks for your help.
