Hi all iv just bought an astra 16i 8v club 2001 37K on clock. Could any one
tell me when it needs a cam belt change iv looked back on previous post and
see the the astra 16v should have it changed at 40K is the 8V the same I
hope it isent as im skint after buying it. How long dare I leave it befor
having it done. Also on reading other posts I see there should of been
somthing called a "car pass" in the Paper work i received with the car i
take it that it contains some codes for keys and radio there was some paper
with the radio code on but nothing for keys could this cause a problem
later. Could i get a new "car pass" from a dealer it I need one and any idea
how much.

Thanks for any help

The car pass should have been transferred to you with the car. Mine wasn't,
and it was only after reading the manual I learnt about it. The local
Vauxhall dealer charged me around £26 for my replacement. Took about 10
days. Had to prove ownership.

Not sure with your specific car, but don't delay this - or you'll be even
more skint :-(

At least you've got the radio code - the other info is less likely to be
important. But do check carefully in the car - esp. above the sunvisors.

Have you rung the previous reg.keeper? Or the original supplier?

Hello all, on the subject of `car pass`, I have a plastic strip with a the
letters `RN` and a bar code, below which are the letters `RN` ,then a
letter and some numbers. I got this with the paperwork on a 2004 Zafira.
Am I correct in thinking this is a current version of the `car
pass`......(Am not the first owner of the car)...Your posts on the Astra got
me a wee bit worried now!........Regards all. Doug.
