Hi
I have a Zafira '06 CDTI 150 auto. About once a week when you press the
acelerator, eg to pull into traffic, nothing happens, it just idles - (could
be v dangerous!) it last for about 15 seconds, then bursts into life. It
also did the same on the motorway once, and just coasted for about 15
seconds. I'm assuming its a prob with the fly by wire throttle, but I'm no
expert.

Dealer can't find anything wrong of course. anyone had a similar prob or
got any clues?

Seen this once before - the multi plug on the throttle body had got water in
it and had gone green and fluffy - the plug is under the throttle body and
is a pig to get to.

thanks for that -its completely gone now - won't come off idle!
time for a tow to the dealers I think.

Just got my Zafira back from the dealers after a lengthy repair under
waranty. They said it was the swirl actuator. What does that do?

Inside the inlet manifold there some swirl valves that open and shut
depending on engine load - they come as part of the manifold and are a real
live pig to do - the actuator is underneath the manifold. They are always
going wrong. Good job they are only fitted to the 1.9 16 valve lump.

thanks for the info

sounds like I should be glad I'm still under warranty!

Are they fitted to the 1.9 8 valve lamp? (As fitted to my Astra)

You haven't got away that lightly cos both engines share the same
troublesome EGR valve - Vectra C's are great when they are under warranty
but I wouldn't want one that wasn't. It seems some were built at 5.25 on a
Friday afternoon!!

At least an EGR valve is reasonably cheap and more importantly accessible.
The swirl flaps are supposed to be a real pig to get at and extremely costly
in terms of labour charges to repair. Even I could clean/replace an EGR
valve fx<Thumbs up>

Friday afternoon job? Astras are lovingly built in Antwerp ;o)

EGR valve was blocked on mine, as well as the swirl actuators - only done
17k as well.
