'97 Astra ventilation fan

The ventilation fan in my 97 Astra has stopped working on the 1st and 2nd
switch positions, and a colleague said it's the resistor.
Is it a cheap & simple job to replace this part myself ?

If it's anything like my old 88 Cavalier it's quite expensive from a
dealer, and most breakers will only sell it with the blower.

I have a 92 mk 3 Astra now, and with the amount of electronics in it,
I would be surprised if it still uses the same principle.
