just bought a 94 1.8 cavalier and having huge problems with the immobiliser
    that fits into the dash.
for the last week the car has been temperamental to start but now packs in
at anytime, and finally wouldnt start at all this morning and had to resort
    to the bus !!!!

there are 6 (ish) electrical strips on the immobilser one of which is in
poor nick (it looks as though it been arcing and the strip is burnt) It gets
really hot to the point where my girlfriend burnt her hand on it.

Is there any way i can disconnect the thing behind the dash (or somewhere
else) and just use the ignition key alone ???

any advice would be great as I really dont want to catch the bus longer than
    i have to.

    thanks
    Jeff

Doesn't sound like a Vauxhall one - just trace the wires back and re-join
    where they are spliced into.

This sounds like a system that was fitted to the ex's old Astra.
    The strip does wear!
You "should" received a Gold Card with the card with manufacturers
details. If it's missing speak to the previous keeper and see if they
have the spare key/dongle or Gold Card. That would give you a starting
point (no pun intended!!). I'm sorry I cant remember what the system was
called, the car left 2 years ago.
Failing that I think you'll have to get the system removed. The Astra
one was a pig, hidden behind the speedo (I think).
