    Hi guys,

I bought a Corsa 1.2 6 months ago, and its second warranty service is
    coming up.

The price I have been quoted is £165, which sounds very high to me.
Does any other Corsa owners recognize this price, or should I take my
    car someplace else?

Also, does anyone know if I have to bring the Vauxhall around an
official dealer/garage, or if I can get my warranty service at a
regular, non Vauxhall garage as long as it still adheres to Vauxhall
    standards?

Thanks for any info you can provide. I'm not from Britain, so the price
range over here is still a bit of a jungle to me.

That sounds fairly expensive but the 2nd service is bigger than the
    1st.

I would call a couple of dealers and try and negotiate a better price.

With regards to non-Vauxhall servicing you are allowed to take it
elsewhere providing they use genuine parts (ie oil filter and sump plug
ring) and a decent quality oil. Obviously they must also follow the
    service schedule.

Having said that, it will affect the part-exchange value if the service
history is not at a Vauxhall dealer. If you intend keeping the car
forever that is fine but be careful otherwise.

This is a good price providing you are using genuine parts and a decent
    quality semi-synthetic oil.

Unfortunately, a lot of people use pattern parts and whatever oil they
    have lying around!

    Quite possibly.

Vauxhall dealers supply large quantities of oil (and other parts) to
the trade and parts can have a variety of logos depending on
availability. You don't normally get just Opel though.
It can be AC Delco, GM, Vauxhall or Opel.

Not that it matters to much to you perhaps, but thought I'd relate my
experience in case people are in a similar situation as I was and are
    looking for some info.

I called around and managed to find a Vauxhall authorized garage that
would do the service for £128, including the oil change. This price is
    with VAT.

The location didn't suit me too well, though, so I called the garage
that offered to do it for £165 and they immediately offered to do it
for £145. Still pricey, but location wise it suited me much better, as
this garage was close to work and could give me a lift there and back
    during the day.

As it turns out, the garage didn't stamp and sign the service booklet,
which I found out a few days later, so I had to swing by there again to
get it done. Kinda makes you wonder what else they've forgot...
