2010 astra fan not running when engine is hot ?

    Hello everyone I'm new here.
    looking for some help/advice, my daughters astra (2010 1.8 sport) has trouble starting when its hot but the cooling fan fails to come on when the engine is hot. did diagnostics today but didn't get any fault codes for this ? the fan runs when powered up independently but not when the engine is running.
    any help or advice would be much appreciated thanks.
