    Hi all,

If I get the cruise control stalk and retrofit in place of the indicators on
a 2004 1.7 petrol Automatic do I need to do anything else apart from
    persuade GM to reprogram?

My wife is suffering Sciatica and the cruise control would be so beneficial
to her by lowering the need to press the throttle pedal so much.

New shape one with the shiny headlight surrounds and Renault Megan style
back end (Ok it's not "quite" that sticky out)

Before you do anything, have a look in your owners book to see if it was
ever an option on your car. Next, remove the steering column shroud and see
if you have the extra wiring. You should be looking for another plug. If
not, then its not worth the hassle of wiring it up, imho.

I went through all this (sucessfully) with cruise on our 2000 zafira manual,
and after seeing if the wiring was there I needed a stalk, clutch pedal
switch and cruise turning on in the ecu. Less than £30 for the parts, £50
for the 5 minutes with the tech 2 guys.

    Hi Mike,

Well it is an option in the car, but I haven't looked inside the surround on
    the steering yet.
AFAIK you don't need a clutch switch as it's an Automatic ;-)

I mentioned the clutch switch just to let you know all the parts I needed.
Point was, I didnt need a brake pedal switch. And I did check at the Vx
place, as I had them look up the part numbers for brake pedal switch for
cruise and non cruse variants (same switch)

    Hope this helps

    AHA,

Well from looking at astrsownersnetwork.co.uk and asking a similar question
it might appear that if the wiring is fitted in the loom to the column I
    might be in luck.

Orf to Ebay to get a switch after checking for plug in loom....

    Thx for your help

You won't find any extra wires - all done by the CIM module - the bit your
switches plug into. All you need is a new indicator switch and then get your
dealer to program your CIM, Engine ECU and IPC ( instruments ) and maybe
    auto box.
I have fitted cruise on loads of these and only had an issue with one that
had a wire missing out the loom for the clutch switch so won't bother you.
You will need the car security code for them to program it all in.

I'll be sorting our the parts this weekend then and having a chat with the
    local Vauxhall dealer.
