"Er Indoors" just had the first service done on her Astra 1.8 16v SXI 52
model and been charged £121 for the pleasure by our friendly West London
Vauxhall and this was meant to be a "special" price.

Could others let me know how much their dealers charge so I can rest at ease
that the proverbial wool is not being pulled over out eyes?

    Thanks in advance

It is expensive but probably reasonable for a London dealer!

Don't think of it as a service but think of it as a way of maintaining the
    used value of the car!

First service on my Astra 1.8 16V SRi 51 model last November was £107.43
from the franchised dealer where it was bought here in North Yorkshire.

Damn, that means it's due it's second service in about six weeks....

I think Nidd Vale charged about that for my wife's Astra SRi for it's one
    year service.

many thanks for the feedback so far guys.

Wondering if it's really worth having Vauxhall stamps in the History books
as opposed to a reputable garage.
Will having a Vauxhall service history really make that much difference when
selling the car on say in 5 years time?

    Cheers

Surely any garage stamping a book are certifying that they carried out the
service the page refers to. If they didn't, they are making a false
    statement.

What you couldn't do though, is advertise a "Full Vauxhall Dealer Service
    History"

Although I think you would be entitled to say "Full Vauxhall Service
History" as the garage has stamped to say they have serviced in accordance
    with the book requirements.

    That's a joke of a price.

My wifes 51 plate 1.8 16v SXi (so the same car as yours, just a year
older) was about 65 pounds for the first service and 90 pounds for the
second service which was just done a few weeks back.

FWIW, that was at Woods West Calder who always provide a very
    reasonable price and service.

My wifes parents who also have a 51 plate 1.8 SXi got their first
service done at Curtis @ Kirkcaldy and it was 90 pounds.

Must be up to the local dealer what they charge I suppose.
