1998 Astra convertible ABS

    If the ABS ring appears to be damaged on the offside front CV jint of my
    Astra, Will it cause the ABS to cut in under lighter breaking than it
    should? Also, as it isnt a sensor fault...is that why the ABS light doesnt
    come on?

    It will cause the symptoms you describe and it doesnt always put a fault
    code in.
    Vauxhall do exchange joints as opposed to brand new ones. They are a lot
    cheaper but just as good.
