02 Astra 1.7dti malfunction indicator light...

My wife was just setting off for work this morning when the MIL
flashed on
and off a few times. She returned the car back to the house and when I
restarted it the light came on breifly then went off permanently.
After this
it stayed off during her 16 mile trip to work.

Will this have left a fault code that can be read....and should I take
it in
to have this done, or should I just wait and see if it reoccurs first?

I would ignore it and hope it doesn't come back.

It will cost you to read the code even if there is nothing to repair.

If it does come back on the car can be driven with the light on. It
just goes into safety mode and loses a little performance and economy.
